I was about 15 when I played my first game of Amber DRPG, and only the GM had read Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber. He had each of us choose a parent among the Elders on the basis of Michael’s illustrations in the game book. It happened that I hesitated between Brand and Eric, and finally picked the latter. Many years passed and I had the incredible luck to meet Erick Wujcik, then Michael thanks to Erick. Michael was gathering stories for the next Amberzine and I immediately recognized the chance that was offered to me: to have Pierce drawn by the same hand which had first inspired his creation. More years passed, but not in vain! As you can see opposite, Michael drew Pierce in the “Shakespearian” style in which he excels. It is interesting to note that, like Lar, Michael recognized pride as Pierce’s dominant trait.
